How long have you been working out at Honest? How did you get started?
I started at Honest just after New Years 2018. I got started because life happened and for the first time in my life I was out of shape and my body was revolting against me. I wasn’t sleeping well and I my body just didn’t feel good most of the time so I decided I needed to start taking better care of myself.
Do you have any advice for someone who is new at Honest? Or thinking about a membership?
Slow and steady wins the race. Honor where you are right now and work with it. Something not only allowed but encouraged at Honest.
What are your favorite & least favorite exercises?
Oooooo…tough…Least favorite is “Best Stretch Ever”, Why I don’t really know…
Favorite Exercise…Not so much a single exercise but I like when Normarae does the circuit style with a block run in the middle.
How do you stay motivated?
Exercising makes my body feel good. That’s all the motivation I need. See question 1.
What keeps you busy in between workouts?
Family (2 Girls ages 7 and 10), working for my husband’s business, volunteering at school, working in the yard, fiber arts (knitting, weaving, sewing, crocheting).
How long have you lived in Portland? Where else have you lived?
I grew up in Wilsonville (just south of Portland), went to the mid west for college and then came back to Portland. Who wouldn’t come back. :). Beach, Mountains and Desert all close by. I’ve lived in Portland for now for over 20 years.
What is your creative outlet?
I love all things art as I was almost an art major. I also love to cook and bake.
What is your self-care routine?
This one is tricky and something I continue to work on on a daily basis. I tend to put others first at my own expense so I am always working on ways to focus more on myself. Coming to Honest is part of my self-care routine for sure! Getting in a nice hot bath is always nice at the end of the day. Going for a walk on a sunny day. Giving myself the ok to do nothing.
What’s your favorite kind of music for working out? Or otherwise?
At risk of dating myself, Mid 70’s to early 90’s. Sadly now considered “oldies” I think. Oldies but goodies I say. :).
Is there a food & drink that you couldn’t live without?
Chocolate, 1/2 lemonade 1/2 lemon lime soda
What is your idea of the perfect day-off?
Going on a long hike by myself, heading out early so it’s not crowded then come home and do some yoga or Tai Chi to end the day.

You could if I was on social media. I’m one of those crazy or not so crazy people that isn’t on social media. 🙂
