Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m an acupuncturist and herbalist practicing in NE Portland. I’m also a step-
mom, a cat mom, and a lover of naps, sewing, and farmers markets.
How long have you lived in PDX? What is your favorite part of living in
I’ve lived in Portland for three years now and moved here to be closer to my
family. I love how friendly everyone is here, and the food is incredible.
What is your favorite way to workout/train/move?
Dancing is my favorite way to move though these days this is more likely to
happen in our kitchen with a glass of wine than out at a club with a bouncer.
Circuit training is my favorite way to work out because it makes me feel strong
like a badass.
Why is working out so important to you?
It took me at least thirty years to realize how closely my mental/emotional health
is tied to my physical health. When I work out regularly, I feel strong in my body,
but I also feel like I can emotionally handle anything that comes my way.
What 1 food and 1 beverage could you not live without?
Food/Beverage: bone broth. It helps keep my energy and my immunity up.
There’s a slow cooker working on some at my house right now.
What is your current self-care routine, and why is it important to you?
My work involves caring for people and creating a safe and healing space for
them, and I need to be my best self in order for that to happen. Sleep is a big
deal for me, and I seem to need more than I’d like to admit. I try to meditate once
a day. I’m also working on showing my true, messy, imperfect self more often,
and it’s being received way better than I’d expected.
What is your biggest outlet for your creative expression?
Right now it’s writing. I’m a little late getting to the blog game, but I’ve been
writing about the awesome stuff and sometimes not so awesome stuff about
being a step-parent.
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I love Neil Diamond and anything pickled.
