Honest Community Standout: Alice Myers!

“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” – Ayn Rand

As May comes to its conclusion, it’s time to reflect on what we’ve learned, bask in the wonderful memories we made…and announce our fabulous Honest Community Standout!

Every month a trainer selects one special client who puts their heart into everything they do. Hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed at Honest. It’s time to give credit where credit is due and shine the light on someone who can’t help but standout.

*drumroll please*

A heartfelt congratulations goes to…. Alice Myers!!

Alice was nominated by Trainer Bree, who had this to say:

“Alice’s fitness evolution over the last few years is nothing short of amazing. I have seen her face and take on new challenges a little at a time. If you would have asked her a few years ago if she would be doing Spinn and Circuit Training, I doubt she would have said yes. Yet, here she is, continuing to challenge and push herself beyond comfort, beyond what she has done before. Not only is Alice an inspiration, she is also an incredible woman! I am so blessed to have met her!”

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the lovely Alice to learn more about her and her fitness journey. Here’s a peek at our chat.

What brought you to Honest?

I followed Bree! I met her at another location where I was taking some spin classes from her and she told me I was really up for more of a challenge, so when she started teaching here I came over and gave it a try.

What were your initial health and fitness goals?

To lose weight and reduce the amount of blood pressure medication I was taking.

How long have you been training at Honest?

About a year.

How often do you train?

2-3 times a week.

What changes have you noticed since you started working out here, both mentally and physically?

I feel like I have a lot more energy and self-confidence. I also don’t need the blood pressure medications that I used to!

What are your long term health and fitness goals?

Stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible 🙂

What advice do you have for other Honest clients?

Be open to the challenges. I like to come in here every day and say “it’s a new day” regardless of how my last workout may have gone. Just push yourself.

What is your favorite fitness move or exercise?

Planks and squats!

What is a move that really challenges you?

Push-ups.

What motivates you during a really tough workout?

I think of them as cheerleaders…the trainers, and the fact that they are always watching and telling you what you are doing right and what you could do to improve. It’s really motivating. And knowing that I’m doing more than I did a year ago or even a month ago.

What is the best advice, fitness related or not, that you’ve ever received?

I had a doctor tell me when I started on this fitness journey not to make any changes that wouldn’t be permanent. She was not an advocate of diets or rapid weight loss or anything like that, she really believed that if you couldn’t maintain or sustain the changes you were making then it wasn’t worth it.

That is great advice and ties into everything we believe at Honest. Just show up and try your best. As Trainer Paisley always says, “it’s not about perfection it’s about consistency”.

Congratulations Alice! You deserve it! Thank you for being such a strong, inspiring woman!
