Paige and the ladies at Fate are doing a raffle for Honest Training!  Make sure you enter your name into the raffle located in the back room.  Fate is raffling off a whole freaking makeover!  Cut and Color + a Facial + a make-up lesson!  WOW!  Thanks guys!

I interviewed Paige so you guys could get to know her …

My Name is Paige Ashcroft!

I’m a Co-owner of beauty studio called Fate Beauty Society.

My go-to cocktail is a Gin and Tonic with extra lime.

I’m kind of a comedy nerd and most of what comes out of my mouth is me repeating movie lines typically for my own amusement.

Which brings me to my next point, I laugh at my own jokes A LOT.

I’ve been happily married for 10 years to one of my closest childhood friends.

If you don’t know me, then you may have heard Paisley talk about me as that one girl who holds her hands like T-Rex when she works out.

Lastly, I’ve been professional follicular manipulator (hairstylist) for 9 years.

How long have you lived in PDX?

My husband Jon and I moved just over three years ago. We’ve lived in Seattle and Phoenix before moving here, but we are both originally from rural New Mexico.

What is your favorite part of living in Portland, OR?

I love the weather! After living in super arid and dry climates for most of my life there has always been something that has drawn me to this climate. I refer to the winter here as “cozy down and eat stew season.” I love having the perfect excuse to snuggle up on my sofa.

What is your favorite way to workout/train/move?

I really like to move in ways that make me think I look cool. I’m really inspired by that. I’m not joking but I do realize this is ridiculous.

I have a real love-hate relationship with working out, as I think many of us do. I never want to workout but once I get started I’m never mad about.

Because working out is tough for me I found that the people I work out with and the environment is more important than what I’m actually doing. That is why I work out at Honest, it’s always a good time and the trainers always trust my intuition about my body while also challenging me where they see I can grow.

Why is working out so important to you?

I spend my day standing and doing repetitive micro movements. Like all jobs, hairstyling takes a toll on the body. I reached a point in my career where I realized that body maintenance is going to have to be a necessity for me if I intend to stay in my chosen career. I find that the workouts at Honest force me to move in ways I typically don’t, helping me to undo the stress I’m causing on my body from repetitive postures and said micro movements

What 1 food and 1 beverage could you not live without?

Hamburgers, coffee with cream and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies.

I couldn’t choose just 1 food.

What is your current self-care routine, and why is it important to you?

That’s a tough one, Fate opened 9 months so I’m definitely still in the trenches of owning a new business. I find it hard to turn my brain off so I’m always looking for a tv show or a book that will totally suck me in and help me to escape the running list in my head. I recently just changed my working hours to fit more a 9-5 model. This is the first time in my life I have kept these kinds of hours and it is very liberating to my mind. I’m also regularly visiting Krishna Avalon for acupuncture which has been amazing!! She’s in our building at it makes it really convenient.

What is your biggest outlet for your creative expression?

So my business partner has given me the name Crafty Bitch because I’m always building or beautifying something. I’ve always been an artist but my medium has always changed. For the last 9 years, my medium has been hair styling. I cut and color hair and I am also a Platform Artist for the beauty brand called Amika where I teach different braiding and styling looks all over the country to professionals in the beauty industry.  While my primary creative outlet is related to hair, I also have a love for building out and creating beautiful spaces rather it be at Fate or in my home.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I’m pretty good at the moonwalk, and I’ve become obsessed with buying and caring for houseplants.

Thanks again Paige and the ladies at Fate Beauty Society.  Make sure to check them out next time you need to get your hair done, need a facial or make-up service.  Support a local, lady owned buisness!
