Let’s face it: this is the hardest time of year to stick to your health goals. There are plates of cookies everywhere, your schedule is insane so fitting in regular workouts gets tough, and you’re surrounded by friends and family members who insist one more glass of eggnog won’t be the end of you. In a way, they’re right—one extra drink is not worth a panic attack, but shaking up your health routine every day for a whole season can certainly leave you feeling less than awesome come January. Why not get ahead of those New Year regrets (and the too-strict resolutions that come with them) by trying these tips and tricks from Honest friend and nutrition expert Alex McMahon of Evolve Nutritional Therapy:
Monthly Archives: November 2015
Our monthly challenges have resulted in some friendly competition, personal goal setting, and tons of fun, so we’re continuing the tradition with a challenge in December—with a twist. For the holiday season, we are taking a break from personal challenges and competitions to spread the love to some folks in our community who don’t have as many resources as we do.
If you’ve been working out at Honest recently, you’ve likely witnessed two months of challenges—the September spin challenge and the October block run challenge—that added a fun touch of competition and prizes to the camaraderie of weekly workouts. This month, we’re taking a break from trying to outpace each other in order to spend some time supporting each other. Our November “challenge” is to write down your weekly goals and your six month goals on sticky notes and share them on the wall of the gym. Sharing your goals is a great way to add accountability and community support to your health and personal goals, from working out more times per week to drinking more water to hitting 10,000 steps a day to eating less sugar to watching less Netflix…whatever your goals, Honest trainers and the rest of this awesome community want to help you achieve them. Start small or aim big—it’s up to you! We’ll get back to winner-takes-all challenges in December, but for now let’s all lift each other up and give thanks for this incredible place we get to share and the wonderful support we have in each other.
New trainer Justin made a splash this weekend with the first-ever Sunday Skool session, a fast-paced blend of circuits, spin, ab-blasting core work, and a few surprises. The full class made the most of the extra hour of sleep by totally killing it in a five-board circuit, a 25-minute spin sesh loaded with great tunes and some new-to-Honest choreography, and an awesome ab series that left everyone flat on the floor—and grinning. Topped off with some quality foam-rolling time, everyone was eager to sign up for next week’s Sunday Skool and were happy to share their opinions after their first workout with Justin. Here’s what Honest clients had to say about the very first Sunday Skool class—90 minutes of heart-pounding, spring-cycling, weight-lifting, agility-boosting magic:
